Spain's 2026 Commercial Van Sales Remain Stable as Stellantis Launches Smart Compact Van
Spain's commercial vehicle market showed little change in the van segment from January to May 2026, with 36,500 units sold, a marginal 0.23% decline year‑on‑year. The Citroën Berlingo and Renault Kango remained the top‑selling models, while the Ford Transit Courier and Toyota Proace City posted notable gains.
In contrast, the larger van (furgón) segment expanded by 12.18% to 40,012 units, driven by strong demand for the Ford Transit, Renault Trafic and a sharply rising Renault Master. Other models such as the Fiat Ducato, Toyota Proace and Volkswagen Crafter also contributed to the growth.
Stellantis introduced the Smart Compact Van 2026, aimed at self‑employed workers and small‑medium enterprises. The vehicle is offered in electric, diesel, gasoline and micro‑hybrid versions and features a redesigned interior with modular solutions like the Flexiseat, Moduconsole, Dashbox and Drive Drawer, plus an optional three‑seat Moduwork layout. Its compact dimensions are suited for urban use while providing versatile cargo and office‑on‑wheels capabilities.
