Spain's AESAN issues salmonella alert for Ocean Sea frozen shrimp

The Spanish Agency for Food Safety and Nutrition (AESAN), part of the Ministry of Consumer, has issued a food safety alert for a specific batch of peeled cooked shrimp sold frozen under the Ocean Sea brand. The product, originating from Honduras, is identified by lot number X1392618BUXX and is packaged in 200‑gram units with a best‑before date of November 2027.

Testing found the presence of Salmonella spp. in the batch. AESAN advises consumers to discard any of the affected shrimp and not to eat them. The alert was initially communicated by the health authority of the Junta de Andalucía. Anyone who has already consumed the product and experiences symptoms such as diarrhea, vomiting, fever or headache should seek medical attention.

The agency recommends that households with the product keep it away from consumption and follow the guidance of local health services if illness occurs.
