Spain health agencies issue listeria and salmonella food alerts

The Andalusian health authority has issued a food safety alert after Listeria monocytogenes was detected in three batches of large chicharrón (lots 6221, 6241, 6252) and one batch of morcilla (lot 6244) produced by Carnes y Congelados Jupe Jerez SL. The products were distributed to supermarkets and shops in Cádiz, Jerez de la Frontera, Rota, Prado del Rey, Vejer de la Frontera, Chiclana de la Frontera, El Puerto de Santa María and surrounding towns. The company voluntarily withdrew the items, halted production of ready‑to‑eat foods and carried out extensive cleaning. Consumers are advised not to eat the affected items and to return them to the point of purchase; anyone experiencing vomiting, diarrhoea or fever should seek medical attention.

The Spanish Agency for Food Safety and Nutrition (AESAN) has also warned of Salmonella in two lots (262014422 and 262014423) of Can Duran fuet extra, a 170 g plastic‑packaged sausage. Initial distribution was in Catalonia, Aragón and Navarra, with possible redistribution to other regions. The alert, triggered by a notification from French authorities via the European Rapid Alert System (RASFF), calls for immediate removal of the product from homes and retail outlets. Symptoms of salmonellosis such as diarrhoea, vomiting, fever or headache should be reported to health services.
