Spain's Andalusia PP‑Vox talks aim for governing coalition

After the June 2026 regional elections in Andalusia, the People's Party (PP) led by incumbent president Juan Manuel Moreno fell two seats short of an absolute majority. The PP has begun negotiations with the far‑right Vox party to secure its support for a governing coalition.

The first meeting between PP leader Moreno and Vox regional chief Santiago Gavira took place in the Andalusian parliament and was described as cordial. It follows earlier contacts, including a discussion between Moreno and Vox leader Santiago Abascal at the Royal Palace during the Pope’s visit. Vox is demanding guarantees on immigration, agricultural policy, social measures and an end to socialist policies, while the PP says its negotiating space is limited but remains open to dialogue.

These talks are crucial for Moreno's bid to retain the presidency and for both parties to shape the legislative agenda for the coming term.
