Leapmotor International expands with Spain battery plant, new models and global sales milestone

Leapmotor International, the Stellantis‑Leapmotor joint venture, will open a 34,000 m² battery‑assembly plant in Mallén, Zaragoza. The €25 million investment will create 90 jobs and start operations on 31 July, with an initial capacity of about 60,000 batteries a year and the ability to reach 100,000 at peak. The facility will initially produce LFP modules for the Leapmotor B10 SUV slated for the nearby Figueruelas plant.

The brand’s B10 REEV hybrid SUV combines a 1.5‑litre gasoline range‑extender with an 18.8 kWh battery, delivering up to 900 km combined range and four adaptive drive modes. Its B05 compact electric car, aimed at Europe, features a rear‑mounted 218 hp motor, a maximum WLTP range of 482 km, and pricing from €19,500. Both models include advanced connectivity, driver‑assist systems and premium interior options.

Leapmotor announced that it has delivered 1.5 million vehicles worldwide, underscoring rapid global growth. The joint venture also received the Silver award at the 2026 Energy Summit Awards in Brazil for its ultra‑hybrid REEV technology integrated with flex‑fuel engines.
