Spain's Auto+ scheme offers up to €4,500 for electric cars
The Spanish Government has introduced the Auto+ programme, a component of the broader Plan Spain Auto 2030, to boost electric‑vehicle uptake. The scheme replaces the earlier MOVES III programme (April 2021 – December 2025) and provides direct subsidies of up to €4,500 for the purchase of battery‑electric, plug‑in hybrid and extended‑range electric vehicles. Funding of €400 million is allocated for 2026.
Applications will be processed electronically by the Ministry of Industry and Tourism and must be submitted after the vehicle has been registered and fully paid for. Applicants must upload the definitive technical sheet, registration certificate, purchase invoice, proof of bank payment and a bank‑account certificate. For new cars and light vans (categories M1 and N1) the invoice must display a minimum €1,000 discount expressly identified as “Auto+”. The electronic portal will remain open until 15 October, with a possible extension to 31 December if budgetary credits allow. Subsidy amounts are reserved on a first‑come basis; once the budget is exhausted, later files are placed on a waiting list without guaranteeing payment. The aid can be combined with other subsidies provided total financing does not exceed 80 % of the vehicle’s eligible cost and that any EU‑funded instruments are excluded.
