Spain's Cambrils, Salou and Maestrazgo draw rising tourist interest
Tourism operators on the Costa Daurada report record profitability in early 2025. Cambrils posted a 51.2% rise in revenue per available room (RevPAR) and Salou a 46.1% increase, making them the fastest‑growing destinations in Spain during the January‑April period. Although the RevPAR figures remain below those of premier resorts such as Adeje, the growth is attributed to higher prices and improved occupancy driven by “higher‑category” products and better connectivity.
In the inland Maestrazgo region, the autumn season is being promoted through culinary tourism. The area highlights mushroom foraging, truffle hunting with trained dogs, and seasonal menus featuring local products such as wild mushrooms, game, and cheese. Organisers aim to attract visitors outside the traditional summer window and extend the tourist season.
Both regions illustrate broader efforts by Spain’s tourism sector to desseasonalise travel and capture higher revenues during off‑peak months.
