Spain's CGT union denounces labor violations at municipal firms Óbolo and Obimace
The CGT union’s El Puerto section has publicly accused the home‑care provider Óbolo of withholding salaries and liquidations since early 2024, reporting cases of workers receiving no pay after a June settlement, fraudulent final payments of zero euros, and denied vacation compensation. The union has demanded an urgent meeting with municipal officials, including the mayor of El Puerto, to resolve the unpaid wages.
Separately, CGT’s Andalusia, Ceuta and Melilla leadership has denounced the municipal company Obimace for severe breaches of labor and safety regulations. The union cites a fleet of vehicles over 15 years old, many without functional brakes, leading to constant breakdowns and posing a risk to drivers and the public. It also alleges fraud in professional categories and salaries, and warns that continued hazards could trigger a legal suspension of work.
Both complaints target municipal service providers in Spain, highlighting systemic neglect of workers’ rights, safety, and contractual obligations.
