Guardia Civil recruitments see 26,800 candidates compete for 3,240 positions

A total of 26,806 applicants are taking part in Spain's nationwide recruitment drive for the Guardia Civil, which offers 3,240 vacancies. The written examinations are being held simultaneously on a single day at 20 centres across twelve autonomous communities, including sites in the Canary Islands where 693 candidates are sitting the test. Women account for 8,696 of the applicants (32.44 %). Nearly one‑third (9,194) hold university or professional qualifications, among them 903 with master’s degrees and nine doctorates, and the average age is 27.

The selection process comprises a theoretical‑psychotechnical test, physical trials, a personal interview and a medical examination. Those who pass will attend a year‑long training programme at the Academy of Non‑Commissioned Officers and Guards in Baeza (Jaén) or the Duque de Ahumada Young Guards College in Valdemoro (Madrid), followed by 40 weeks of practical placement before becoming professional civil guards.

During the exam in Logroño, one candidate was expelled after opening the questionnaire before authorization, resulting in immediate exclusion from the competition.
