Spain's CNMC issues Iberdrola fine and proposes EV charging reforms

The National Commission on Markets and Competition (CNMC) issued a resolution (Expedient SNC/DE/142/25) imposing a sanction on Iberdrola Clientes S.A.U. for an alleged breach of Article 65. The decision, dated 4 June 2026, is part of the regulator’s enforcement actions to ensure market fairness.

In a separate initiative, the CNMC released a study (E/CNMC/003/22) recommending measures to simplify the deployment of public electric‑vehicle charging points. The proposals target regulatory consolidation, reduced administrative burdens, enhanced price transparency, and the use of open standards, aiming to foster competition and accelerate Spain’s energy‑transition goals.
