Spain's Congress and Cantabria Parliament Hold Major Political Debates
The Spanish Congress of Deputies opened its election‑campaign period with a debate that mixed elements of a confidence vote and a state‑of‑the‑nation discussion. Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez used his speech to reaffirm his intention to run again for the premiership, while other party leaders focused on their programmes and criticised the government’s handling of numerous judicial cases.
In the autonomous community of Cantabria, the regional parliament convened its two‑day "Debate on the State of the Region" under the chairmanship of María José González Revuelta. The session provided a comprehensive review of the region’s economy, employment, health, education and infrastructure, allowing the regional government to present its record and opposition groups to offer their critiques. Resolutions adopted will guide Cantabrian policy in the coming months.
