Spain's Correos launches commemorative stamps for A Caniza and Práxedes Mateo Sagasta
On 3 August 2026, Correos will issue the first postmark that bears the official Galician name “A Caniza”. The change follows the regional decree that replaced the Castilian spelling “A Cañiza” with the historic Galician form “A Caniza”, and the postmark marks the LX edition of the Festa do Xamón, highlighting the municipality’s linguistic heritage.
On 21 July 2026, Correos released a vertical stamp dedicated to 19th‑century Spanish statesman Práxedes Mateo Sagasta Escolar. Printed in offset on glossy, phosphorescent paper, the 28.8 × 40.9 mm stamp carries a face value of €2.65, a print run of 65,000 copies, and commemorates Sagasta’s pivotal role during the Restoration era, targeting collectors of political and historical themes.
