Spain's Court of Auditors declines EU fund probe in Catalonia

The Spanish Court of Auditors (Tribunal de Comptes) has decided not to conduct new investigations into whether European funds were misused during the October 1 independence referendum in Catalonia, rejecting a proposal from Societat Civil Catalana (SCC).

However, the Court has not yet implemented the amnesty law for Carles Puigdemont, Oriol Junqueras, and approximately 35 former government officials. This follows a consultation with the Court of Justice of the European Union (TJUE) regarding the legality of the amnesty. The Court has opened a new hearing period, granting fifteen days for parties to submit arguments, thereby delaying its final decision on the matter.
