Spain's cultural calendar adds new play and flood‑memory short film
Actress Sole Mallol returns to Madrid stages with the comedy “Las que gritan”, which opens on 1 July at Teatro Maravillas and runs through August. The story follows Consuelo, a widowed mother who, after years devoted to family, buys a Harley and pursues her long‑held dream of becoming a rocker, confronting the differing worldviews of her three daughters. Mallol notes the precariousness of acting work in Spain, citing that close to 80 % of actors lack continuous employment.
The short film “Todo lo que perdimos” will premiere on 2 July at Valencia’s Cines Lys. Directed by first‑time filmmaker Belén Mayordomo and starring Eva Santolaria, the 15‑minute drama portrays a mother and daughter coping with the aftermath of the October 2024 DANA floods that hit Valencia and other regions. Produced without public funds, the project aims to keep the memory of the flood victims alive and highlight the solidarity of volunteers across Europe.
