Spain's Defense Ministry investigates military misconduct

Spain's Defense Minister Margarita Robles has ordered investigations into two separate incidents involving military personnel.

The first involves new evidence regarding alleged violent conduct by soldiers stationed in Ceuta against immigrants. While this matter has not yet triggered an internal investigation, it is being monitored closely.

The second investigation concerns a video released on October 12, the Spanish National Day, showing legionnaires cheering for agitator Vito Quiles. The soldiers involved face potential disciplinary action, including 15 to 30 days of arrest. Ministry advisors suggest the soldiers may have violated the Organic Law of the Disciplinary Regime of the Armed Forces by breaking the requirement for strict political neutrality. The Army is currently conducting inquiries to verify the authenticity of the footage.
