Spain's Defense Ministry tasks INTA with analyzing recovered military technology

The Spanish Defense General Staff has commissioned the National Institute for Aerospace Technology (INTA) to conduct technical studies on weapons, equipment, and technologies recovered from operational zones. This process, known as technical exploitation, involves examining materials previously held by adversaries to understand their functionality, capabilities, and vulnerabilities.

INTA will analyze a wide range of items, including conventional weapons, ammunition, vehicles, and mechanical, electrical, or electronic components. The scope also extends to materials related to nuclear, biological, chemical, and radiological threats, as well as the extraction of digital evidence and network information. These studies aim to improve military preparedness, enhance detection procedures, and develop national technological solutions to counter identified threats.

The initiative aligns with NATO practices, which categorize these examinations into three levels: initial field reviews, detailed studies within operational zones, and deep scientific analysis conducted in specialized facilities outside of combat areas.
