Spain's DGT Deploys Helicopter, Drone and 100 Officers for 88th Sella River Descent

The Spanish traffic authority (DGT) has set up a special traffic operation for the 88th International Descent of the Sella on Saturday, 8 August. A helicopter and a drone will monitor the route from 7 August, and more than 100 traffic agents will control the main access points at Arriondas and Ribadesella. The event is expected to draw about 300,000 spectators, prompting the designation of the area as a High‑Impact Traffic Event.

Traffic on the N‑634 between Llovio and Arriondas will be restricted from 10:00 a.m. on the day of the race, with heavy‑vehicle and hazardous‑material transport bans in place from 07:00 to 24:00. Real‑time traffic information will be provided via variable‑message signs, DGT social media, and a live traffic map.
