Spain's Regions Report Decline in Early School Dropout Rates

The Community of Madrid has cut its early school abandonment rate to a historic low of 7.59%, down from 11.4% in 2023 and well below the 13% national average. The decline follows a multi‑year effort that includes reducing class sizes, hiring 2,725 new teachers and other policy measures.

In Barcelona, the Board2030 initiative, backed by B Lab Spain, EADA Business School and Ferrer under the Barcelona+B umbrella, is mobilising a coalition of companies such as Uriach, CBRE, Tram, Deloitte, El Clínic, Cushwake and Reig Jofré. The programme shifts corporate involvement from isolated volunteering to a coordinated, data‑driven effort aimed at tackling early school dropout as a city‑wide challenge, with long‑term, measurable commitments.
