Spain's Ecoescuelas programme awards Green Flags to schools in Alcalá and Andalusia

The Ecoescuelas programme in Spain presented Green Flag certificates to schools for outstanding environmental projects. In Alcalá de Henares, CEIP Infanta Catalina received its first Green Flag, with the ceremony attended by municipal officials and education representatives. Several other local schools also renewed their flags, highlighting ongoing sustainability initiatives such as waste reduction, energy saving and biodiversity projects.

In Andalusia, a ceremony in Algeciras awarded the Green Flag to the C.P.R. Aderán 1 de Cabezas Rubias in Huelva, bringing the total of Andalusian schools honored to 16. Six schools received the flag for the first time, while ten renewed it. The awards, coordinated by the European Environmental Education Foundation and ADEAC, recognize three‑year periods of commitment to resource conservation, sustainable mobility and environmental education across participating schools.
