Medieval festivals attract thousands in Sigüenza and Torrijos, Spain

The 27th edition of the Jornadas Medievales in Sigüenza drew around 20,000 visitors over three days. Declared a Regional Tourist Interest Fiesta, the event featured historical reenactments of the 14th‑century captivity of Queen Doña Blanca, a medieval market with about 80 stalls, and full occupancy of local hotels and restaurants. The city’s council coordinated the programme with the Asociación Medieval Seguntina and a specialist production firm, and security forces ensured smooth operation.

In the nearby province of Toledo, the municipality of Torrijos announced the dates for its XX Crónicas del Rey Don Pedro, to be held on 20‑22 March 2026. The festival will recreate the 1353 celebrations of King Pedro I of Castile, including parades, archery, sword demonstrations, workshops, and a children's program called Crónica Chica. Organisers highlighted the use of local historic sites such as the Palacio de Pedro I and the Colegiata del Santísimo Sacramento, aiming to make the event a key annual tourist attraction for the town.
