Spain's electric vehicle sector sees industrial growth amid subsidy uncertainty
The electric vehicle sector in Spain is experiencing both industrial growth and budgetary uncertainty. In Aragon, the partnership between Stellantis and Chinese manufacturer Leapmotor has generated approximately 200 million euros in the auxiliary industry. This economic activity supports nearly 1,000 jobs within a network of suppliers providing components, tooling, and logistics for the production of the Leapmotor B10 model at the Figueruelas factory.
Simultaneously, there is uncertainty regarding public subsidies for electric vehicle purchases. The Auto+ Plan has 400 million euros allocated for 2026, with approximately 71% of the budget already requested. However, no funding has been approved for 2027. While the program is intended to run until 2030, the lack of guaranteed annual financing and potential political transitions in Spain create concerns for consumers and the industry regarding the continuity of these incentives.
