Spain's energy‑storage industry adds €524 million value and 5,230 jobs

The Observatory for Innovation in Energy Storage convened its first working session in Madrid to create Spain’s inaugural Energy‑Storage Roadmap. The sector now generates about €524 million in added value and supports roughly 5,230 direct and indirect jobs, despite being in an early deployment phase. Installed battery capacity has risen from about 25 MW in 2024 to over 125 MW by March 2026, a five‑fold increase, while projects under permitting total close to 25 GW, surpassing national plan targets. Participants identified storage as critical infrastructure for integrating renewable generation, enhancing grid flexibility and stability, improving supply security and reducing external energy dependence. The roadmap will address regulatory hurdles, investment incentives, grid‑forming technologies and strengthen public‑private collaboration to accelerate further deployment.
