Spain's Interior Ministry reports 104,666 active gender‑based violence cases
The Spanish Interior Ministry’s VioGén system recorded 104,666 active gender‑based violence cases as of 31 July 2026. Of these, 1,165 are classified as high‑risk and 14 as extreme‑risk.
53,818 cases involve minors under the victim’s care, and a further 1,664 cases are flagged as at‑risk, including 149 high‑risk and 3 extreme‑risk situations. Victims’ ages break down as follows: 1,335 are under 18, 25,756 are aged 18‑30, 48,357 are 31‑45, 26,685 are 46‑64, and 2,533 are 65 or older.
The data also identify 13,464 cases of “special relevance,” indicating a heightened probability of severe or lethal violence. The highest concentration of active cases is in Andalusia (27,885), followed by the Valencian Community (17,111), Community of Madrid (12,591), Canary Islands (6,462), Galicia (6,188), Murcia (5,733), Castilla‑La Mancha (5,776), Castilla y León (5,586), Balearic Islands (4,306), Extremadura (2,967), Aragon (2,436) and Asturias (2,293).
