Spain's firms keep average supplier payment delay above 14 days in Q2 2026

The INFORMA D&B study shows that Spanish companies’ average payment delay to suppliers was 14.36 days in the second quarter of 2026, a modest improvement over the previous quarter but still above the 14‑day threshold. The delay costs the Spanish business community roughly €3.1 billion. As director Nathalie Gianese noted, “Durante el segundo trimestre de 2026 el retraso medio en los pagos de las empresas españolas se mantiene por encima de los 14 días, como sucedió el año pasado con la excepción de los últimos tres meses cuando bajó a 13,97 días.”

Hospitality recorded the longest average delay at 23.75 days, followed by Administration at 23.19 days. By contrast, construction, communications, education, commerce, extractive industries and manufacturing posted shorter delays. Region‑level data for May indicated that Galicia was the second‑fastest autonomous community, paying suppliers in 14.97 days, just behind Andalusia (14.94 days). The national May average rose to 24.17 days, up 1.58 days from April but still under the legal 30‑day limit. Some regions exceeded the limit, notably the Balearic Islands (51.72 days), Castilla‑La Mancha (36.98 days) and the Valencian Community (33.17 days). The central administration’s average payment time in May was 20.85 days.
