Spain's food safety agency flags contaminated dietary supplements

The Spanish Agency for Food Safety and Nutrition (AESAN) has issued two separate alerts over dietary supplements. The first concerns the product "Pro V male sexual performance enhancer" (brand Pro V), in which undisclosed sildenafil – the active ingredient of Viagra – was detected. AESAN warned that the undeclared drug could cause adverse pharmacological effects and advised consumers to stop using the product and authorities to remove it from shelves.

The second alert expands a recall of moringa‑based supplements after Salmonella spp. were found in several batches sourced from Germany. Products from brands such as Bibonatur, Planeta Huerto, El Granero, Dreamfoods, The Saffron Company, Frisafran, Drasanvi and others are affected, with recalls underway in Galicia and other Spanish regions. AESAN urged the public to check the listed lot numbers, avoid consumption, and seek medical attention if symptoms of salmonellosis appear. Both alerts were communicated through the Coordinated Rapid Information Exchange System (SCIR) to regional health authorities for immediate market removal.
