Spain's Galicia and Tenerife launch free summer camp programs for youth

The Galician regional government (Xunta) announced the allocation of 9,087 places for its summer camp program, part of a total historic offering of 11,932 spots and a €5.5 million budget. Applications topped 16,000, prompting a lottery system that now gives priority to applicants who missed out in 2025, aiming to improve rotation and equity. Camps will run from June to September across 36 facilities in the four Galician provinces and include exchanges with other Spanish regions.

In the Canary Islands, the Tenerife administration activated the "Verano Joven 2026" scheme, providing 90 full‑board camps for children aged 10 to 15. This initiative adds to the growing network of free summer activities for Spanish youth.
