Spain's gaming industry expands through startup funding and tourism integration

The video game industry in Spain is seeing significant regional development through specialized programs and technological integration. In Madrid, the ‘Madrid in Game’ initiative has helped startups secure nearly 13 million euros in funding. The city’s gaming campus has accelerated over 300 projects and generated 400 jobs over three years, utilizing specialized facilities like the Spring Center for innovation and the Sport Center for competitive gaming.

In the Canary Islands, efforts are focused on connecting gaming with other sectors. In Lanzarote, the Chamber of Commerce and the Cabildo have partnered with the tourism sector to explore digital experiences, including the use of Roblox to create virtual showcases for the archipelago. Meanwhile, the Gran Canaria Experience festival is working to connect local gaming talent with international investors and markets, providing a platform for independent studios and creators to present their projects to global business agents.
