Spain's historic San Fermín and Sa Calatrava festivals hold final celebrations

On July 14, the traditional Giants and Cabezudos troupe performed an emotional farewell dance in Pamplona, marking the close of the San Fermín festivities. The ceremony, a long‑standing part of the celebration, was documented in a photo gallery released by local media.

In Palma’s Sa Calatrava neighbourhood, residents marked the end of their beloved festivals with a commemorative event that recalled five decades of cultural activity. A reunion photograph captured surviving participants from the 1976 origins, while the final night featured poetry, music, street theatre, giants, cabezudos, fireworks and other popular games that have defined the neighbourhood’s open‑air celebrations.

Both events highlighted the enduring role of community‑driven traditions in Spain’s cultural calendar.
