Spain's left parties demand action on education staffing and early‑childhood care

Izquierda Unida (IU) spokesperson Toni Valero lodged a written request with the Ministry of Education demanding the government explain the measures it will take in the coming school year to prevent autonomous communities governed by the Partido Popular from eliminating the posts of auxiliares de conversación. Valero warned that the lack of regularisation threatens labour rights and the language‑learning programme for thousands of students, citing previous non‑registration of these workers with Social Security and recent sanctions on regions that ignored the rules.

In a separate initiative, Por Andalucía MP Ernesto Alba presented a proposal urging the Junta de Andalucía to commit to universal infant education for children aged zero to three. Alba called for concrete resources, a clear assessment of the number of needed guarderies across the region, lower teacher‑to‑child ratios and the protection of existing public funding, insisting the government move from promises to action.
