Ceuta judicial system reinforced to handle migration surge

The High Court of Justice of Andalusia (TSJA) has implemented measures to reinforce the judicial system in Ceuta following a surge in legal activity linked to mass migration. These measures include establishing a system to ensure two duty judges are always available in the judicial district to handle urgent proceedings and increase operational capacity.

Additionally, the TSJA is opening a service commission to reinforce the court specialized in violence against women. This decision follows urgent requests from the Spanish government to the General Council of the Judiciary (CGPJ) to address the workload caused by the influx of migrants in late July. The reinforcement aims to prevent the judicial backlog from delaying sensitive cases and to manage the high volume of urgent legal actions, including detentions and judicial proceedings.
