Spain's local police seize illegal goods and make arrests in Lorca and El Puerto

The Local Police of Lorca intensified patrols in the municipality's rural districts, carrying out 30 security and traffic checks that identified 232 people and 116 vehicles. Eight individuals were detained for offenses ranging from alleged public‑health violations and attacks on police officers to gender‑based violence, driving without a licence and driving under the influence. The operation also generated dozens of administrative proceedings for animal‑care violations, public‑order breaches and traffic infractions.

In El Puerto de Santa María, the Local Police, together with the National Police, conducted a coordinated raid on illegal street‑vending on 5 August. More than 1,080 articles of clothing and accessories lacking proper authorisation were confiscated, including 350 sports shirts, 222 scarves, 209 belts, 188 caps and other items. Deputy Mayor for Security Jesús Garay said the action protects legal commerce, preserves public order and combats the underground economy, especially during the tourist‑heavy summer months.

Both operations are part of ongoing municipal strategies to curb illegal sales, improve public safety and enforce local regulations.
