Spain's Madrid and Valencia regions allocate over €70 million to disability housing and mental health services

The Community of Madrid approved a four‑year agreement to invest €59.7 million in shared housing for people with intellectual disability. The plan will add 142 new places, bringing the total to 500, and includes a near‑30% increase in per‑place funding, provision of tablets, a dedicated social educator for sports and leisure activities, and a vacation program. An additional €2 million will cover maintenance of 29 specialist public places in Arroyomolinos from September 2026 to August 2027.

In the Valencian Community, the regional government earmarked €12.5 million to expand mental‑health support for people with disability. The funding will finance 901 new places across day‑care centres, rehabilitation, occupational facilities, and supervised housing, and will extend the Service of Attention and Follow‑up for Severe Mental Illness (SASEM) from 53 to 64 locations, improving territorial coverage and continuity of care.
