Spain's Marbella Congress Center Gets Solar Retrofit, Melilla Plans Cemetery Modernisation
The Marbella Palace of Congresses and Fairgrounds (Palacio de Ferias y Congresos Adolfo Suárez) has completed the installation of more than 500 photovoltaic panels on its roof. The €2.3 million project, funded by the EU NextGeneration programme and managed through Spain’s Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan, also upgraded heating, lighting, insulation and added a rain‑water harvesting system. Work was carried out by the joint venture Construcciones Arjona and Tuberías y Montajes San José.
In Melilla, the city government has awarded an €84,000 contract to draft a comprehensive renovation project for the historic Cementerio de la Purísima Concepción. The technical design, to be prepared within a year, will address structural, aesthetic and accessibility deficiencies of the cemetery, which is protected as a Bien de Interés Cultural. Once the design is completed, a separate tender will launch the full restoration works expected to begin in the second half of next year.
