Spain's Minimum Vital Income scales for 2026

The Minimum Vital Income (IMV) in Spain maintains specific reference amounts for 2026 based on household composition. For a single person living alone, the guaranteed reference income is 733.60 euros per month. This amount increases with the number of household members, reaching 953.68 euros for a household of two adults or an adult and a minor. For single-parent families, amounts are higher, reaching up to 1,775.31 euros per month for those with four or more children. These figures represent a reference amount; the actual payment is calculated by subtracting the household's total income from the guaranteed reference income.

In the Community of Madrid, official data from August 2026 shows that 15,611 foreign nationals are holders of the IMV, representing 21.11% of the region's total holders. Out of approximately 73,950 total holders in Madrid, roughly 58,300 are Spanish nationals. While there are 227,840 total beneficiaries in the region, including all members of the household units, the official breakdown by nationality is only available for the primary holders of the benefit.
