Feijóo unveils PP candidates and seeks Vox pact before 2027 elections

Alberto Núñez Feijóo, leader of Spain’s People’s Party (PP), has launched the party’s candidate lists for the municipal elections scheduled for May 2027. He announced the re‑election bids of the three mayors of Valencia, Alicante and Castellón, and presented candidates for all provincial capitals across the country, positioning the local contests as a referendum on the national government.

Feijóo also said that, should the PP fail to secure an absolute majority in the upcoming general election, it will have to reach an agreement with the far‑right Vox party. He acknowledged policy differences with Vox but argued that “Spain above all” requires cooperation with the third political force to form a government.

In addition, Feijóo praised the Spanish men’s football team for winning the 2026 World Cup, using the victory to highlight values such as hard work and humility. He reiterated his intention to repeal the Law of Democratic Memory and to tighten the rules for obtaining Spanish nationality, citing them as priorities for a future PP government.
