Spain's People's Party questions coalition pact and seeks coherence before possible no‑confidence motion

People's Party (PP) spokesperson María Muñoz demanded political coherence from the Basque Nationalist Party (PNV) and said forging a stable agreement with Junts is unlikely. She framed the call within the PP's strategy of presenting an instrumental motion of no‑confidence to force early general elections, noting the current parliament lacks a majority to sustain the government or to topple it.

Former foreign minister José Manuel García‑Margallo criticized the agreement reached between the PP and Vox to support the Andalusian government, specifically the “national priority” clause for public aid. He called the concept legally void, unconstitutional and incompatible with EU law, arguing that discrimination based solely on nationality would not withstand judicial review.
