Spain launches €400 million Plan Auto+ for electric vehicles

The Spanish government has activated the Plan Auto+ with a €400 million budget to subsidise the purchase of electrified cars. The scheme offers grants up to €9,100 per vehicle, with a base amount of €4,500 for fully electric models priced under €35,000 and €2,500 for plug‑in hybrids. The aid is retroactive to 1 January 2026, covering purchases made since that date. Administration has moved from regional calls to a single online portal managed by the Ministry of Industry, allowing dealers to submit applications on behalf of buyers and applying the discount directly at the point of sale, eliminating the need for advance payments. The programme aims to refresh Spain’s vehicle fleet, which has an average age of over 13 years, and to promote European‑made models priced below €35,000.
