Spain's PP claims 61 billion euros in EU Recovery funds renounced

The People's Party (PP) has accused the Spanish government of significantly reducing the scope of the national Recovery Plan. Alberto Nadal, the PP's Vice Secretary for Economy and Sustainable Development, stated that Spain has effectively renounced 61,706 million euros in European funds compared to the original 163,014 million euros available.

According to the PP, the government has introduced nine addenda to the program, which they claim have modified, eliminated, or lowered various milestones and objectives. The party estimates the final volume of the program is approximately 101,000 million euros, primarily due to a reduction in loans.

A major point of contention is the funding for Strategic Projects (PERTE). The PP claims these allocations have been reduced by 41.5%, falling from 42,480 million to 24,869 million euros. Specifically, the PERTE Chip project reportedly saw its budget drop from 12,000 million to 2,250 million euros.

The opposition also highlighted cuts in social policies and housing. They noted a reduction in social rental housing units from 20,000 to 15,718, and a decrease in gender violence alert devices from 30,000 to 9,500.
