Spain's PP demands impact study on Gibraltar treaty's effect on Jerez Airport
The centre‑right Partido Popular has lodged a written question in the Spanish Congress asking the government to explain why no specific study has been prepared on how the Gibraltar treaty – which could allow national flights from Gibraltar Airport – might affect the nearby Jerez de la Frontera Airport in Cádiz. The party seeks details on any potential impact on passenger numbers and on state investment in Jerez, as well as the conclusions of any existing analysis.
The government previously responded in the Senate that no such report exists and, under the current regulatory framework, it does not anticipate any impact on investments at Jerez Airport stemming from the treaty’s implementation. The PP’s new request reiterates the demand for an official assessment of the treaty’s consequences for the Spanish airport.
