Spain's PP party demands military deployment to secure borders

The People's Party (PP) is calling on the Spanish government to increase military and technological resources to manage migration and border security. Jacob Qadri, a PP deputy, argued that the migratory pressure on the Canary Islands is a national and European issue that cannot be managed by the islands alone. He cited the 2006 ‘Operation Noble Sentinel’ as a successful model where coordinated efforts between the National Police, Civil Guard, Armed Forces, and Frontex reduced migratory pressure by 60%.

Opposition leader Alberto Núñez Feijóo criticized Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez for failing to deploy the army to the border following reports that Moroccan warships entered waters near Ceuta during a period of mass migration. Feijóo accused the Prime Minister of failing to provide explanations to Parliament and called for greater firmness regarding Spain's territorial integrity, while maintaining a relationship of loyalty and good neighborliness with Morocco.
