Spain's PSOE Criticizes Regional Health Infrastructure and Clinic Closures

In Cantabria, PSOE health spokesperson Marcos Agudo denounced the deteriorating state of the Servicio Cantábrico de Salud facilities. He highlighted that a recent heatwave exposed failures in cooling systems across hospitals, inadequate ventilation for patients and staff, and structural problems such as the roof collapse at the Medio Cudeyo health centre and ongoing issues at Hospital Marqués de Valdecilla's pneumatic tube system.

In Granada, PSOE municipal leader Raquel Ruz condemned the closure of the Fortuny‑Velutti health centre, accusing the regional government of neglecting residents of the historic neighbourhood. The administration argues the move to the new Gran Capitán centre will improve space, equipment and safety, but locals and the PSOE warn that the relocation forces patients to travel farther and threatens other nearby primary‑care sites. A petition with 2,555 signatures has been submitted to demand alternatives.

Both incidents illustrate broader concerns by the Spanish Socialist Party about inadequate maintenance, insufficient climate control and the impact of health‑service reorganisation on local communities.
