Spain's regional governments expand forest‑fire training programs

The Valencian Generalitat's Directorate General of Forest Fire Prevention organised a one‑day training session for forest technicians at the Valencian Environmental Education Centre. Participants reviewed resource mobilisation, fire‑behaviour analysis, meteorological interpretation, inter‑agency coordination and the use of the HV4 prevention helicopter, updating protocols to improve anticipation and response to forest fires.

In Galicia, the Xunta’s Ministry of Rural Environment launched a collaborative training and outreach programme with the forestry company Finsa. The eight‑hour courses, held at the Campiño base and the Toén Fire‑Fighting Centre, combined theoretical lessons on fire dynamics, tactics and equipment with practical vehicle demonstrations, targeting company staff, community forest groups and Finsa personnel.

Both initiatives aim to strengthen regional capacities for forest‑fire prevention, enhance coordination among services and equip personnel with up‑to‑date knowledge and skills.
