Spain's Restauración municipality and Castilla y León unveil solid waste management initiatives

Mayor Carlos Daniel Fontanilla of Restauración presided over the formal launch of the Municipal Integrated Solid Waste Management Plan (PMGIRS). The project, supported by the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation (AECID) and a consulting team, aims to modernise waste collection, treatment and community awareness in the town.

In the autonomous community of Castilla y León, authorities released the first revision of the Integral Waste Plan (Pircyl). The €7.28 million investment sets targets to cut regional waste generation by 15 % by 2030, reduce food waste, lower plastic‑bottle collections, and raise recycling rates for containers, paper, batteries and tyres. The plan also emphasizes prevention, energy recovery and compliance with European circular‑economy directives.
