Spain's second-hand market reaches 18.8 billion euros

The second-hand market in Spain has become a significant economic and environmental driver, accounting for approximately 18,810 million euros, or 1.11% of the national GDP, according to a study by Misura Economics published by Movimiento Re-Úsalo.

In 2025, 88.4% of the Spanish population participated in the reuse market by either buying, selling, or donating products. The report indicates that 58.6% of participants purchased or received second-hand items, while 71.2% sold or donated goods. Approximately 420 million products were exchanged during this period.

Environmentally, the reuse of products prevented the emission of 38.9 million tons of CO2 and diverted 916,000 tons of waste from landfills and incinerators. This reduction in waste represents an estimated saving of 357 million euros—roughly 8% of gross municipal waste management spending—for local administrations.
