Spain's Sánchez labeled a danger to EU by opposition over Ceuta migration influx

In a European Parliament session on civil liberties, justice and internal affairs, People's Party (PP) spokesperson Dolors Montserrat accused Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez of being a "danger" to the European Union and called him a "pariah of Europe". She alleged that Sánchez had "fabricated lies, diplomatic conflicts and conspiracies" to conceal the arrival of roughly 72,000 migrants in the Spanish enclave of Ceuta. Montserrat blamed an "opaque" foreign policy, the withdrawal of state security forces, the rejection of EU assistance and a "call‑effect" for the crisis. European Commission internal affairs commissioner Magnus Brunner was present at the hearing. Sánchez visited Ceuta after about 70,000 migrants were returned to Morocco, and the PP demanded that the government activate return regulations to expel the remaining migrants.
