Spain's Squad Targets Medals at 2026 European Triathlon Sprint in Poland

The 2026 European Triathlon Sprint Championships will be staged in Elbląg, Poland, on 31 July and 1 August. The two‑day event will feature elite, U23 and junior races, with individual contests on Friday and mixed‑relay finals on Saturday.

Spain is sending a notably large delegation—15 athletes across the categories. Sergio Baxter will be the sole Spanish elite male competitor, and there will be no elite women. The U23 men’s squad includes Pelayo González, Michael Gar, Miguel Espuna, Andrés Prieto and Jarno Pousada, all viewed as medal contenders. In the U23 women’s field, Ana Carballo, Maite Jiménez‑Orta and Alejandra Segui will compete, while the junior team features Xavi Cabanilles, Lucas García, Lucas Riola and several others.

Spanish officials see the strongest medal chances among the younger athletes, especially in the mixed‑relay and junior events, where the depth of the squad could translate into podium finishes.
