Spain's street circus festivals attract thousands of spectators

The Public! street arts cycle in Tàrrega concluded its eighth edition with four programmes that drew close to a thousand spectators across the villages of Claravalls, Santa Maria de Montmagastrell, Altet and La Figuerosa. Performances included contemporary circus acts such as Circ Pistolet’s "Quan no tocàvem de peus a terra," contemporary dance by Cia. Marc Fernández, percussion by Sound de Secà and acrobatic shows by Cia. Uta Circ. The municipality praised the edition for high attendance, artistic quality and a strong cultural offering.

In Valencia’s Poblats Marítims district, the XI edition of Circ Voramar ran from 28 August to 6 September, offering free, open‑air circus shows on streets, squares and cultural centres. The festival, organised by Apec – Baraka Circ in partnership with the district council, reported more than 100,000 spectators, around 300 artists and over 90 companies from local, national and international backgrounds. District councilor María José Ferrer San Segundo and festival director Jorge Pastor highlighted the event’s role in fostering community participation, cultural access for all ages, and the dignification of contemporary circus arts.
