Spain's Sumar coalition expands executive and tackles Ceuta crisis

Ernest Urtasun, the Minister of Culture, will serve as a permanent invitee to the new executive of the Sumar political coalition. The reshuffle also appoints Óscar Urralburu as secretary of Organisation and Lander Martínez as head of Institutional, Parliamentary and Government Relations, alongside other permanent invitees such as deputies Esther Gil, Laura Vergara and MEP Estrella Galán.

IU spokesperson Enrique Santiago, speaking for Sumar, denounced Morocco's role in the recent surge of migrants entering the Spanish enclave of Ceuta, calling it a "provocation" by the Moroccan regime. He urged the reinforcement of security forces and the deployment of measures to de‑congest Ceuta, referencing a Supreme Court ruling that barred hot returns of migrants and warning of further destabilising actions by King Mohamed VI's government.
