Spain's Summer Festivals Showcase Music and Folklore Across Regions

The small municipality of Peralejos de las Truchas in the Alto Tajo region is hosting the 12th edition of the free‑admission music festival Greetings from Peralejos. Running from Thursday 6 August through the weekend, the event honors the 20th anniversary of Bruce Springsteen’s American Land tour and features the EM Street Band from Madrid, the Valencia duo Darkness, Málaga’s Used Cars and local acts such as Guillermo Lago & Amigos, along with jam sessions by The Greetings Band. Organiser Txema Fernández said the festival’s non‑profit model is increasingly difficult to sustain and relies on local and provincial sponsors.

Meanwhile, the 39th Festival Folklórico de los Pueblos del Mundo in Montijo will take place on Saturday 8 August in the atrium of the San Pedro church. The programme, organised by Agrupación Cultural AGLA, brings together the local Montijo group, Portugal’s Rancho Folclórico de Fortios and Chile’s Ballet Folklórico Alma Chilena to present traditional music, dance and costumes from the three countries, promoting cultural exchange among Iberian and Latin‑American folk traditions.
