Spain's supermarket fruit and tomato prices diverge sharply in June 2026

A comparison of supermarket prices on 27 June showed large variations for the seasonal stone fruit peach and the less‑known “paraguayo”. Carrefour offered the cheapest peach at €2.79 /kg, while Consum sold the same fruit for up to €4.29 /kg. For the paraguayo, Eroski’s price of €2.45 /kg was the lowest, contrasted with higher rates at other chains such as Mercadona (€3.00 /kg).

Data from Hortoinfo covering the 2025‑2026 campaign indicated that the price paid to growers for greenhouse tomatoes averaged €1.08 /kg, but the same product fetched €1.96 /kg in central markets – an overall increase of roughly 92 %. The gap peaked in May, when the farm price was €0.61 /kg and the market price €1.65 /kg, a 175 % rise, while the smallest differential occurred in March at 28 %.
